At the end of April 2023, Balineau organized a waste collection operation on the Ostréa Edulis site in Gujan Mestras as part of Earth Day.
This collection mobilized eight of our employees during a solidarity and ecological event. Approximately 160 kilograms of waste were collected in one afternoon, including plastic and fishing nets, which were then sorted at our material depot. The most collected waste was floating plastic: light objects that can travel several hundred kilometers through rivers and finally end up in the oceans.
Once again this year, many of Solétanche-Bachy’s Business Units have taken up the challenge launched by the NGO Project Rescue Ocean by organizing waste collections all over the world. Last year, 34 tonnes of waste were collected, which is the record to be beaten this year.
Finally, this action was an opportunity for us to reaffirm our attachment to the Bay of Arcachon: an area rich in biodiversity and which many of our employees frequent and appreciate.
